For us guys, pulling out the lawnmower is a almost a ritual each year; the sign that we can (hopefully) pack up our shovels and rock salt and say HELLLLLLLLO to summer! And although my lawn on the east side is very small, it still needs to be taken care of -- and I've found a greener way to do it -- I'm using a self-propelled lawnmower!
Yes, gas lawnmowers are fantastic...but there are so many reasons to leave yours in the garage this summer. (Most importantly, they emit toxic gases, and use fossil fuels.) Instead, look around for a self-propelled mower at a garage sale (I found mine for $7.00!). Take the extra time, burn a few extra calories, and you'll be making a green choice to help keep your lawn green all summer -- and for summers to come!
We all hear how we should shred and recycle our old bank statements, credit card applications, and other junk-type mail that could compromise our identity…and this weekend, Kard Recycling in New Berlin is taking care of all of it Drop off up to 100 lbs. of recyclables, and they’ll recycle it for free, while they take donations for the Hunger Task Force. Not only is this a great way to get rid of all this old junk, but it's a GREEN way to get rid of it too!

Remember the hottest selling cars 10 years ago? They were the Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator, and the newly-released (and "pimped out") Cadillac Escalade.
Times, they are a changin'.

My mother is a bag lady.
No, not that kind...she's the kind of person who gives gifts in BAGS. And why? It's GREENER than wrapping paper.
If you give gifts in bags this Christmas, don't be afraid to re-use a nice bag or some of the tissue paper again. Chances are, that bag and tissue paper are in fine shape, and unlike re-gifting, RE-BAGGING is less likely to be noticed by someone you're giving a gift to.
