Going green is as easy as you being thrifty! Seriously, when you’re thinking thrifty you are more likely to reuse or reduce your use of “stuff”. You think of saving energy to save money or driving less to save gas money. You click coupons, you watch for sales, you garage sale and head to thrift shops. So as you make the simple steps this year to go green, just think thrifty!
Have you noticed the pile of napkins that get thrown into your to-go bag from fast food places and restaurants? Well a simple way for you to go green would be for you to try to limit the amount of napkins you take! Or if you get too many, you can save them in your car for unexpected messes or in case nature calls in the outdoors, you can compost the napkins in layers, or recycle them with your other paper goods. Whatever you do just don't throw them into the trash. Resist the stacks of napkins given from fast-food joints and eateries!

Going green can be so simple, for example I just realized that I've been doing something right without even knowing it. When it comes to cleaning up, I'm a shower person. Not since I was a kid did i like taking baths and even then I'm not sure I liked them. If you can, get rid of baths! By taking showers you'll use about half the amount of water that you would if you were taking a bath. So next time you go to get clean, go green and take a shower!
Going green is so simple at times, it's just a matter of knowing some facts! For instance, did you know that reducing your speed from 70 mph to 55 can reduce your fuel efficiency by 23 percent? Plus the less you speed, the less you'll pay out in speeding tickets. So let off the gas pedal a little, you'll being saving some green while you go green!
I always say that going green is easier than you might think, it just takes some simple planning! For instance, I always get plastic bags when I go grocery shopping, so in turn I recycle them for my Boston Terrier's poop bags! That way me and my puppy Murphy are going green together, and he likes that!
Being that it's early in the year many of us have still kept our New Years Resolutions, but it's also not too late to start one... go green! Another simple way you can is to turn off the water while you brush your teeth. You can save about 4 gallons of water doing this simple thing, so keep brushing, just turn off the water while you do it!
I did something this last Christmas for the 1st time, bought gifts online! In this age of soaring gas prices and the looming threat of climate change; by doing more of your shopping online you can save on fuel, emissions and probably score a bargain on the way. Make a new years resolution to be greener in 2010, it's amazing the difference we can make by doing simple things like shopping online!
As we all get ready to send Holiday wishes to our loved ones I want you to pause for a second to realize that 2.6 billion holiday cards are sold each year in the United States. That means we could fill a landfill the size of a football field 10 stories high!
So this year as we dream of a "White Christmas", consider making it a "Green Christmas" by sending your friends and families e-cards!
It's that time of the year that we start doing more baking, not that I cook much... but that's not the point. Most baking instructions tell you to preheat your oven. Make the simple move to be more green and never do so for more than 10 minutes! If all of us reduced our oven time by an hour per year, we'd save enough energy to bake a billion cookies, and I love cookies so back off the preheat time!
