Cool Summer, let's keep it up!!

If you read my other blogs, you'll notice a theme of conserving both energy and money...and I've talked a lot about trying to use our power in the most econmical way possible. Things like keeping your A/C low or off, and unplugging appliances when they are not in use...these are things that both save energy, but all save money when the eletric bill comes each month.

It's mid August and luckily, it's been a very cool summer....our A/C has not, hopefully, been running on overdrive all summer. Now that we have late summer heat,. let's all try to continue doing our best to open windows, drink lot's of water, and keep the A/C use to a minimum!

What are some things as well get into fall that we can do to continue to save money and conserve energy as we get back into the cooler and colder months of the year?? Email me with your thoughts, I'd love to hear them!! bandrews@1037kissfm.com

Don't Forget to Enjoy It!!!

Hey gang,

I hope you're all having a great summer so far! You know, we talk a lot on this site about ways we can save and beautify our world...but maybe sometimes we get so caught up in that, we forget to get out and actually enjoy it!  We get so few months in Milwaukee that we can spend outside with being bundled up like a polar bear, we need to remember to get out any enjoy the world we are working to save...so make it a point to get outside each and every day and enjoy what we're working so hard to protect!

One thing about bad weather!

So, it's Saturday afternoon, the current temp is 48 and I have not seen the sun all day....but if we look at it from an engery standpoint, no air conditoning or heaters need, so we're all saving money and engery.

Don't worry, it will be 80 soon enough, until then, let's all try to enjoy lower energy bills!

Goals!

Hey everyone, it's Brett from Kiss again! Everyone talks about "going green"....it's become a mjor buzz word in pop culture. Everyone uses it, try's to "be green" or "live a green life style". The honest truth, as I see it, is that it is much more simplistic that a way of living, or changing you life. Moreover, it's the small things we all do, the "one thing at a time" method if you will.

So what I'm doing, rather thant trying to chance my life all at once...is take baby steps. Everyone's baby steps comined become come big steps.

That said, how do we do this? How do we take those baby steps? For me, it's setting small goals and achiving them one at a time. For example, my goal as we get into the summer months, is try to limit the extent that I use my air conditoner! Yeah, it gets hot and sometimes it is needed, but I'm going to try open windows on days  that are not redicoulously hot (let's be honest, it's never that hot for that long in the state).

So, that's my next goal! I challenge you to achive your next goal...and feel free to share it hear!

Am I becoming my Dad??

Hello Milwaukee 1 Thing readers! I'm Brett Andrews, night time host on 103.7 Kiss Fm with a quick going green story for you!

When I was a kid, I used to make fun of my Dad endlessly! He would walk around our house, turning off all the lights. If one light was left on in a room nobody was in, he was FREAK!!! We never really understood why he was so into turning off lights! Well, we didn't pay the electric bill :)

Now, as an adult, I've taken it one step further...it scares me, I'm becoming my Dad! I now walk around my house and not only turn off lights, but unplug appliances and lights that I'm not using!!! It not only saves energy, but it also saves me money!! Good Times!

Thanks for checking out my first 1 Thing Blog....be sure to check back for new blogs from me every week!!
